 Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDP Cell)
The prosperity of a nation and society is measured by its industrialization and economic progress. Technology and globalization are ushering an era of extraordinary change. There is an immediate need and pressure for change and innovation. Keeping pace with emerging technology of today's world, apart from technological and cultural activities, the Kalpi Institute of Technology has activated Entrepreneurship Development Cell to support the growth of startups (Future Entrepreneurs) across the region.  EDP cell aims towards the guidance and assistance of prospective entrepreneurs on various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies of support system, information on technologies, etc.
The objectives of the EDP Cell are:

  • To create an awareness of need and importance of entrepreneurship as career option among students.
  • To inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship through student projects.
  • To create awareness for using technology as the key input for generating self employment.
  • To organize seminars/ guest lectures/workshops/ industrial visits.
  • To arrange interaction with entrepreneurs and create a mentorship scheme for student entrepreneurs.
  • To program on sources of financial assistance to budding entrepreneurs.
  • Conduct entrepreneurship development programs and inculcate in them a degree of professionalism and programmatic outlook.

To identify the areas that are of importance to the people of Ambala in general and Haryana in particular in fostering entrepreneurship and bringing down the unemployment rate of qualified Science & Technology students.

The activities carried out by entrepreneurship development cell during session 2012-13

  • A Guest lecture on Banking System for Young Entrepreneurs

On 15 October 2013 we invited the Manger of Haryana Ghramin Bank, Mr. P B S Bhatia, to share his valuable insights from their rich experience about banking including topics such as:

  • Funding schemes for young entrepreneurs
  • Job perspectives in banking sector for Engg/MBA students
  • Education Loan: scheme & facilities

The session served as the ideal platform for the students to supplement their theoretical knowledge with first hand perspectives from some of the stalwarts of the industry and also appreciate the different dimensions of handling modern day business challenges, working of banks, funding schemes and job opportunities.

  • A course on Electronics Instrumentation & CAD/CAM under technology based entrepreneurship development programme (TEDP) of department of science & technology, Govt. of India conducted by Electronics Research Development & Facility Centre (ERDC), Ambala Cantt.
